Gambling should be entertainment, not a financial strategy. We built Revolution for players who enjoy slots, live dealer games and sports betting as leisure — and we take it seriously when that balance tips. This page sets out the control tools we offer, the warning signs worth watching for, and the UK organisations you can turn to when gambling stops feeling like a choice.
Why responsible gambling matters
Online betting carries real risk. The speed of digital play, the ease of deposits and the 24-hour availability all make it harder to track what you are spending and how long you have been on the site. No system prevents harm by itself — but the right limits, applied early, give you a way to step back before a problem takes hold.
Our role is to provide the tools and to make them visible. Your role is to use them honestly. If you are reading this page because someone asked you to, or because your play has already caused friction at home or at work, that alone is worth taking seriously.
Signs gambling is getting out of hand
These behaviours show up before the money runs out. Catching them early is the point:
- Chasing losses — depositing again to win back what you just lost.
- Lying about how much you have spent or how often you play.
- Gambling with money meant for rent, bills or food.
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to stop or cut down.
- Borrowing money to keep playing, or selling things to fund deposits.
- Neglecting work, family or other responsibilities because of time spent gambling.
One of these in isolation does not mean you have a problem. Several together, or any one that has caused real consequences, means it is time to act.
Questions worth asking yourself
A short self-check, answered honestly:
- Have you ever lied to people close to you about how much you gamble?
- Do you gamble to escape worry, boredom or loneliness?
- After losing, do you feel you must return as soon as possible to win it back?
- Have you missed work, a family event or another commitment because of gambling?
- Have you borrowed money, or sold anything, to finance your play?
- Has gambling caused arguments at home or strained a relationship?
Two or more "yes" answers suggest your gambling is doing harm. That does not make you a different kind of person — it means the activity has outgrown the boundaries you set for it, and those boundaries need to be rebuilt.
Revolution's control tools
We provide two operator-level measures. Both are binding once applied, and neither is reversible until the period you choose has ended.
Self-exclusion closes your account for a minimum of six months. During that time you cannot log in, deposit or place bets. The exclusion cannot be lifted early, even if you ask. When the period ends, your account remains closed unless you contact support and explicitly request reinstatement — it does not reopen automatically.
Take a break suspends your account for a shorter fixed period — typically 24 hours, 48 hours, one week or one month, depending on what you select. The account is locked for the full duration. No exceptions are made once the break is active, so choose a length that gives you real distance from the site.
To apply either tool, log in and navigate to the responsible gambling section of your account settings, or contact our support team at [email protected]. The measure takes effect immediately.
Practical limits that work
These strategies help before a formal exclusion becomes necessary:
- Set a deposit ceiling you can afford to lose — treat it as the cost of entertainment, not an investment. If losing that amount would hurt, the limit is too high.
- Decide your session length before you start — set a timer on your phone, and leave the site when it sounds, win or lose.
- Never chase — if you lose your session budget, that session is over. Coming back immediately to recover the loss is how a bad day becomes a bad month.
- Keep gambling money separate — use a specific payment method for deposits, and never transfer from your main account mid-session to keep playing.
- Talk to someone you trust — a partner, friend or family member who knows how much you play and can spot when the pattern changes.
Where to get help in the UK
Free, confidential support is available right now. You do not need to be in crisis to call, and you do not need to have lost large amounts before your concern is taken seriously.
National Gambling Helpline — 0808 8020 133, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Run by GamCare, the helpline is free from landlines and mobiles. Advisers will listen without judgement and can refer you to local services, including face-to-face counselling. Visit www.gamcare.org.uk for live chat and email support.
BeGambleAware provides information, advice and signposting to treatment services across the UK. The site hosts a self-assessment tool and links to regional support networks. Visit www.begambleaware.org.
GamStop is a free national self-exclusion scheme that blocks access to all UK-licensed gambling sites in one step. The exclusion lasts for six months, one year or five years, and applies across every operator registered with the UK Gambling Commission. Register at www.gamstop.co.uk — the process takes minutes, and the block is active within 24 hours.
Gordon Moody offers residential treatment programmes and online therapy for people whose gambling has caused serious harm. The residential programme lasts 12 weeks and is free at the point of use. Visit www.gordonmoody.org.uk or call 01384 241292.
Blocking software
If you want to prevent access to gambling sites across all your devices, two free tools are widely recommended:
Gamban blocks gambling websites and apps at the device level — on your phone, tablet and computer. It runs in the background and cannot be turned off without contacting Gamban's support team. The first month is free; after that it costs £3.50 per month. Download it at gamban.com.
BetBlocker is entirely free and works on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and Linux. It blocks tens of thousands of gambling domains and is designed to stay active even if you try to disable it. Visit betblocker.org.
Protecting minors
You must be 18 or over to use Revolution. 18+ access is a legal requirement, not a suggestion. If you share a device with anyone under 18, parental-control software such as Net Nanny or Qustodio can block gambling sites and monitor browsing. Most routers also offer built-in filtering that applies to every device on your home network.
If you have concerns about your own gambling or someone else's, contact [email protected] or reach out to any of the organisations listed above.
Access to this site is restricted to persons aged 18 and over (18+). Gambling should stay entertainment, not a burden — for free, confidential support, visit BeGambleAware.org.
